Downtown LA, CA – “A True Art Movement” is a group show of various artists, different styles, mediums as well as a vast range of price points. This show was designed for any and all Art Lovers. Whether you are a serious collector or just someone who appreciates great Art to help add to the aesthetics of your home, we have something for you. There are two commonalities that every Artists in the show share. The first is a very high quality level of work, skill set and extraordinary talent and the second is that every single Artist in this show creates Art as their primary source of income. That was not a requirement during the selection process of the show, however it came out after the selection process was completed during the Artists interviews. Every Artist was selected based on their work!
Aaron B. Thornton - Aaron has been a very prolific artist for decades. His use of earthy colors and interesting styles are often cited as the reasons for his popularity. The figures, often deliberately void of implication, are almost immersed in nature as if they were made of the same subject matter. As Monet said, “I took my greatest lessons from nature”. He left his hometown and went to college at the University of Connecticut on a sports scholarship. Aaron continued his studies at the Otis College of Art and Design. In addition to learning by painting hundreds of original pieces a year in order to discover a unique voice on the canvas. His training in sports along with a degree in exercise physiology helped Aaron to achieve a different look into the human form. He is always looking to break barriers as an emerging contemporary artist while respecting the traditions and techniques of the masters of the past. Aaron would like to thank his many collectors over the years for their continuous support that has enabled him to strive towards new heights of excellence.
Bart Cooper – Bart is an Award winning Artist that is relatively new to the fine Art scene, though in no way new to Art. Bart has been creating Art since he was a child. Further developing his skills Bart graduated from a BV Technical Institute with a degree in visual communications. Immediately after graduation he was offered a job to teach as an instructor for the school in which he had just graduated from. After teaching for a few years Bart left to worked corporately for the American Bible Society. He eventually broke away as a free lance studio Artist. Throughout his entire career creating art for major corporations and studios, he always had a passion to continue his journey in fine art. He is best known for his mastery of colors and the ability to contrast them in a uniquely captivating manner creating vivid and explosive works.
Eddie Rodriguez – Eddie was born in Brownfield Texas. Quoting him during our interview “The Heart is essential for the mind to understand the soul and when you truly Love what you do, there are no boundaries!” Eddie explained as a child, his Grandfather, a master welder, introduced him to the Art of welding at the tender age of 8. His mother was also an Artist and she would let him draw at her side. To honor both of them he started to mix his welding skills and his inherited Art skills. He attended I.C.D.I., International Commercial Diving Institute were he learned how to weld underwater. In his welding career he was generally the lead man on most projects. As the years passed Eddie further developed his skills and integrated his God given talents into beautiful works of Art. In 2005 he started co-creating works for world re-known artist James Russell. Many of the projects were for Public Arts all over the World. Many of the works are 10’ to even 20’ in height and majestically stand in front of major Financial Institutes, Universities, Corporate buildings and even in the courtyards of esteemed private collectors. At current he instructs teachers at L.A. Trade Tech whom also is one of Eddie’s sponsors in his Artistic career. It is Mr. Rodriguez’s desire to pursue his own Artist career and attempt to publically exhibit as James Russell has. He believes that his talent should be shared with the world to continue to inspire artists to continue to “Create” as well as to leave a legacy not only for himself but as a tribute to his beloved Mother and Grandfather.
Efren Luna – Efren Luna received an AA in Art from Long Beach City College and a BFA in Drawing and Painting from California State University of Long Beach. Currently Efren has his own studio and Gallery. He also has had experience as a curator. Efren says he knows he is young, however he is still very excited because he knows he is only at the beginning of a life long journey and can’t wait to see the future holds for him and his Art!
James Zar –James Zar was born in San Pedro, California in 1941. Zar attended Valley Junior College, the Pasadena Playhouse and the San Francisco Art Institute where his interest in art was encouraged and expanded by his mentor, the late master painter, Keith Finch. Joe Hales and Raymond Escar were influential instructors. He holds a lifetime adult teaching credential in California. As with other artists, an education in art is never complete and he is continually studying, exploring and growing in process, concepts and subject. James Zar has been featured in countless publications and periodicals throughout his over 50 year career as an Artist! Zar was involved with major movie studios where he worked professionally and became friends with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. Among other celebrities are Frank Sinatra, Jack Palance, Don Rickles and Hal Holbrook, all of whom have his paintings in their private collections. Zar, also referred to as The Still Life Magician, continues to create his striking still life and visionary works in oils.
