XII Apostles: Paintings by Zhenya Gershman
The Harris & Ruble Gallery, Hollywood’s newest showcase for fine art and photography, has announced its premier opening on Saturday, November 6, with the unveiling of Zhenya Gershman’s provocative and iconic series of oil paintings, “XII Apostles.”
“Harris & Ruble • ART” reflects the eclecticism and avocation of its proprietors, Marcella Ruble and Alan Harris, who originally purchased the historically significant building at the intersection of Santa Monica and Cole to house their eponymous legal practice which has been subsequently nicknamed “Harris & Ruble • LAW.”
Zhenya Gershman had her first solo exhibition in her native Russia at the age of ten. Soon after moving to Los Angeles, she became the youngest student ever to be admitted to Otis Art Institute, where she graduated with honors, and went on to earn an M.F.A. at the Art Center College of Design. Her work has been displayed both nationally and internationally and is featured in the private collections of Richard Weisman and Donald Simon, among others. She has worked in the J. Paul Getty Education Department for nearly a decade, interpreting such exhibitions as “Icons of Sinai” and “Rembrandt: Telling the Difference.”
Following a press reception from 5 to 7 pm for the artist, the Harris & Ruble Gallery will be open to the public from 7 to 9 pm on Saturday, November 6. Private viewings of Zhenya Gershman’s paintings can be arranged by appointment; call (323) 962-3777.
