DESCRIPTION
Chung King Project is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Philipino artist Rommelo Yu (born 1979).

Raised in the United States, and now a long-time resident of Berlin, Rommelo will present a large scale sculptural exploration of the legacy of Sol Lewitt.

By inserting personal culture and history (albeit abstracted) through the selection of materials, and the inclusion of ritual, to the universalized forms prevalent in minimalist and conceptual practice, in this case the work of Sol Lewitt, Rommelo shifts the discourse from the universal to the personal, from the intellectual to the interactive. This show is less an inside installation but a collection of outdoor sculptures exhibited within a gallery waiting to burst out and contribute to the public landscape. So, in this sense, the show exhibits ways to occupy public space.

Rommelo Yu past exhibitions include a solo at PS1, New York; and various group exhibitions in public and private spaces in Berlin.
