DESCRIPTION

Blythe Projects is pleased to present History and Vanity: The Distillation of Rumor; new paintings by Los Angeles based artist, Ben White. This celebrates White’s first solo exhibition with Blythe Projects.

Believing our society holds a paraplegic understanding of how we come to believe what we believe, White’s paintings explore the art of historical construction with both its beauty and bloodshed. The artist states, “It seems to me imperative that one continuously pull back the curtain and reveal the absurdity, hilarity and horror of our historical perceptions.”

Examining the relationship between Truth and History, White comments on how truth becomes fabricated over the course of time. The artist posits this; when fabrication becomes Truth then the idea of history as an overwhelmingly complex interaction of events, ideas, physical forces and individual human will become relegated to the dustbin.

Blythe Projects is located at 5797 Washington Boulevard, Culver City, California 90232.      For more information please contact Hillary Metz at 323.272.3642 or hillary@blytheprojects.net.
