Daniel Castillo was born in Bucaramanga, Colombia, South America in 1960. His training in engineering and stained glass led him naturally to the process with fused glass which can be approached much the same way as a painting or sculpture. He continually strives to grow as an artist and advance his work technically and conceptually. Drawing on his background in engineering along with inspiration from sources such as the seasons and blending Canadian and Colombian landscapes he creates beautiful and compelling glass art that ranges from simple functionally shaped pieces to sculptures, wall panels, windows, doors and installations. Daniel has created architectural and sculptural works for corporate, liturgical, and public art fields, some of those projects in Venezuela, USA, Italy, Spain, Canada and Colombia; he has received several grants from London Arts Council and has been featured in some publications worldwide.
