Known for his iconic portrayals of Louise Brooks and 60's legends, Andy Carey has a style that is as unique as his subjects. Mixing wood discs and oil on canvas, he creates another dimension, forcing the eye not only to intepret shadows and colors, but space and depth as well.
Andy's latest exhibit, Sound! adds (you guessed it) sound, to the mix. A modern-day mod (redundant, I know), his pieces are like love notes to the tune of the psychadelic sixties. Even Brian Jones makes an appearance, quietly watching and listening.
One cannot truly appreciate his art until seen in person. Lucky for us, Andy Carey's Sound! is at Open in Long Beach from now until July 20, 2008.
