DESCRIPTION

MAKE/DO explores the artist’s studio as a space of both functional and aesthetic production. The exhibition will examine the ways in which creative energy can be harnessed to produce utilitarian objects and structures, emerging as much from necessity as from inspiration.
Showcasing a diverse array of objects taken from the homes and studios of artists that were not made with any intention for display, MAKE/DO looks to the creation of tools and furniture as an extension of practice – an auxiliary process that compliments and aids in the making of ‘fine art’. The show will include handmade woodworking tools by Asim Waqif, throne-like chairs from Sumed Rajendran’s studio, wire-mesh lamps by Niharika Rajput and Sakshi Gupta’s custom-built work table, thus providing intimate insight into artists’ method and procedure.
