Gallerie Nvya is pleased to present REVERIE a suite of photographs by the famed Pankaj Mistry of Mumbai. The show has been curated by critic Uma Nair. Mistry is a traveler of life and a custodian of many moments of quietude in different parts of the country. He has virtually touched subjects of everyday reality and the latitude of his work embraces studies of temples, streets, abandoned houses and interiors in Goa and Trambekeshwar and Khidrapur. Reverie is a journey of time and is a metaphor for Mistry’s signature style of abstraction in the reality of the livid idiom. For lovers of photography it will present moments of renewed and quiet vigour for what might have been lost in the timelessness of time.
Mistry says: ‘To me photography is that medium of expression which gives me liberty to transcend time and space, express my emotions as honestly as possible and has been so, for more than 24 yrs, the time when I was into commercial photography, that phase of my life which has played a very important role in transforming my thought and vision which in turn altered the way I see my subject, the way I perceive it.’
