American Legacy Fine Arts presents Fleeting Moments: Works en Plein Air, a group exhibition that takes an extraordinary look at this contemporary painting movement with works from renowned artists who have been pivotal in the continuing evolution and growing appreciation of painting outdoors to capture the ephemeral qualities of natural light.

The exhibition of more than 40 works unveils on Friday, November 17 and will be on view through December 15.

Fleeting Moments will spotlight 25 artists, including Peter Adams, Daniel W. Pinkham and Jean LeGassick, whose names are synonymous with the contemporary California Impressionism movement, as well as Joseph Paquet, who was influenced by landscape painters of New England and France, and filmmaker George Gallo, who paints in the style of early Pennsylvania Impressionists. Contributing different viewpoints on plein air painting are Tony Peters, who searches for awe-inspiring imagery in urban settings, and Scott W. Prior, who is self-described as a “painter of stuff,” finding beauty in everyday life and objects.

The other prominent artists exhibiting in this display and revealing their perspectives on plein air painting include Bill Anton, Warren Chang, John Cosby, Quang Ho, Jim McVicker, Stephen Mirich, Jennifer Moses, Michael Obermeyer, Ray Roberts, Dan Schultz, Amy Sidrane, Mian Situ, Tim Solliday, Alexey Steele, William Stout and Jove Wang. Also participating are two under-30 artists rising on the scene – Christopher Cook and Ramón Hurtado.

“American Legacy Fine Arts is thrilled to present Fleeting Moments: Works en Plein Air featuring the paintings of groundbreaking artists who are redefining the plein air experience today,” says Elaine Adams, the gallery’s director. “By focusing on the most active and influential, as well as up-and-coming painters in this movement, we can examine how skilled artists interpret spatiotemporal occurrences – events that happen in a split second of time and space – and connect those momentary experiences to universal emotions,” she adds.

American Legacy Fine Arts is located in the tranquil Pasadena neighborhood near the world-famous Rose Bowl Stadium and Norton Simon Museum. Gallery hours are by appointment 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Art enthusiasts interested in viewing the exhibition may schedule appointments by either calling (626) 577-7733 or emailing  The exhibition may also be viewed at the gallery’s website,
