Group A: NOW

From July 11th through August 11th, BoxHeart Gallery presents Group A: NOW on exhibit in our 2nd floor gallery. NOW is an exhibition of artwork created by  members of Group A and invited guests. Artists were asked to submit their most recent artwork, without regard to themes or labels. Group A prides itself on exhibiting artwork that consistently represents contemporary thought and freedom in the arts. Consequently, the artwork is rich in symbolism with a universal language. As the group is so diverse, it’s difficult to generalize and categorize the artists.  NOW reflects Group A's individual and personal perspectives.

Group A was founded in 1944. Originally known as the Abstract Group, Group A was founded by well-known artists Russell Twiggs, Sam Rosenberg, and Robert Lepper. Group A remains a small invitation only group of artists who work in all visual medias. The size of the group enables more communication between artist members. Group A currently has 48 members and 10 invited guests. Over the years the group has exhibited widely in the Pittsburgh area including exhibitions at The Pittsburgh Center For the Arts, Carnegie Mellon University, Fe Gallery, and Borrelli-Edwards Gallery.
