On Saturday, April 29, 2017, 6-10pm, ‘VISIONARY ALCHEMY’, will open at ONE ART SPACE, 23 Warren Street, New York, NY. 49 outstanding and accomplished International artists whose work exemplifies the growing genre of art known as Visionary, will be represented. This art may be called by many names – Fantastic Realism, Surrealism, Magic Realism, Visionary Art, Cosmic Art and Inspirational Art, however the work is neither purely abstract nor rigidly realistic. Members of the Society for Art of Imagination, work independently of one another in various countries yet their work shows a consistent ethos. Their works are created in a variety of mediums, predominantly painting, many of which are executed in the Mische’ technique, rediscovered by Professor Ernst Fuchs and perpetuated by Brigid Marlin, founder of the Society for Art of Imagination, which has been in existence since 1998 and still thriving to this day.
Visionary art is a journey, an inner journey of interconnectedness, into a world of extraordinary imagination, encompassing and exploring the qualities of light and dark with a universal and personal focus. Utilizing images that run the spectrum of the human condition, elation to desperation. From the heart rises fantastic and astonishing works of art! France Garrido
These artists embrace dreams, visions and their personal inner life, in all forms to create imaginative works of art that are rich and seeping with passion. KD Matheson’s, NV, painting expresses whimsy and intensity of subject matter, Anna Plavinskaya’s, NY, seduces with pen & ink drawing, Jean Pronovost, Montreal, creates sculptures that combine the allegorical beauty of legends and mythology and Emma Watkinson, UK, will exhibit a painting that seems to anoint us into the spiritual life with glowing sacred geometry. These works are haunting, provocative and seductive, real and metaphysical, this exhibition also includes the masters, HR Giger, Brigid Marlin, Isaac Abrams, Erik Heyninck.
