Cat Del Buono
As a photographer, filmmaker, and video artist in New York, I explore social and identity issues. The themes and topics of my videos works come from triggers in my environment and my thought process. My criticism of society’s obsession with beauty began after a residency in Miami where I noticed an excessive number of women with plastic surgery. I create works that used humor, performance, animation, and viewer participation to point out the absurdity of plastic surgery and other issues in our society. My works have also focused on the threat to women’s reproductive rights, domestic violence, and rape.
