Statement

Punk's not dead, nor is painting.

Through the idiom of still life, naturaleza muerta, my work aims to explore the signifyers of sub-cultural movements and their fascination with life, death and paradoxical meanings in an increasingly chaotic and alienating world.  Examining the products of a planned obsolescence and coupling such opposing artifacts as vhs tapes with bones and organic materials, sunbleached and torn blue jeans with decorative flora and music posters, I hope to recreate the beautiful detritus of a lost youth in the throes of mortal progression.
