    This spring Foam presents an exhibition by the Amsterdam-born photographer and filmmaker, Ari Marcopoulos. Marcopoulos (Amsterdam, 1957) set off for New York in 1979 and quickly became a significant documenter of alternative youth culture in America throughout the last three decades.         Ari Marcopolous’ mid-career survey currently on view at BAM/PFA features a number of the artist’s meticulously produced zines and other related ephemera displayed (perhaps somewhat appropriately) under glass. Removed from circulation and placed in vitrines, these graphic, self-produced publications seem fragile, perhaps almost relics of a bygone era that went the way of small press 45s.
