Statement

ARTIST STATEMENT:

For the last couple years, I’ve split my time between the urban hills of San Francisco and a cabin deep in the redwoods of the Santa Cruz mountains. With one foot in each world, I’ve felt compelled to explore the divide between our man-made contemporary culture and the natural realm. My work reflects this juxtaposition as abstract shapes & patterns collide with animal forms. There is an archetypal beauty embodied by the albino peacock or the elusive white elk that blurs the line between the real and the imaginary. These living, breathing apparitions, situated in hallucinatory realms, force us to pause and question our human-centric notions of what constitutes ‘reality’.
