Hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, Margarita Cabrera moved with her family when she was around ten years old to the United States. This rupture created a cross-cultural perspective in Cabrera, which she has investigated throughout her artistic practice. Calling herself a "border girl," Cabrera focuses on the political, social and emotional experience of being from two distinct, yet closely entwined cultures.
