Robert Moran (MOURN)
Entirely self-taught, never met a teacher I didn't want to punch.
Left school at 17 with the words of my Careers Advisor ringing in my ears, "You'll never make a living as an artist!" Eight and a half days later I landed a job drawing comic books and have never stopped painting/drawing/sculpting/writing since.
I've worked as a comic book artist, cartoonist, illustrator, computer game designer; I've written TV scripts, graphic novels and nationally syndicated American newspaper comic strips.
These days I'm an early-onset curmudgeon who is only even remotely happy when mired deep in the studio painting and strewn from head to toe with oil paint.
About My Art:The aim with my large paintings is to create an atmosphere that resonates like a waking dream or half remembered memory; I want them to be subtly haunting where the landscape possesses a presence that I hope will evoke an emotional response from the viewer.
My smaller works are more whimsical and often reflect my rather dark sense of humour.
