Statement

Jeremiah Hulsebos-Spofford is an artist and educator. He teaches Sculpture and Contemporary Practices at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Chicago High School for the Arts, Chicago’s only public arts high school. Born in Vermont, Jeremiah received his MFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago and BA from Bard College. He was recently a fellow at the MacDowell Colony and attended the Skowhegan School of Sculpture and Painting in 2011. He has taught at the University of Illinois at Chicago, DePaul University and co-directed the Community Expressive Arts Project, a not-for-profit that works domestically and internationally to effect change through the arts. His work has been shown in the United States and Italy where, in 2010 he spent a year living and working in Sicily as a Fulbright Scholar. Jeremiah has received grants from the Harpo Foundation, the Propeller Fund and is currently a 2014 Illinois Arts Council Visual Arts Fellow.
