Statement

Russell Young is a british photographer & painter. He first came into the public eye as a photographer of celebrity musicians. He follwed this by making music vidoes, many of which were aired on MTV. His first exhibition of painting was in 2003, titled PIG PORTRAITS it sold out. Like the Fame and Shame series that followed , Young's work concentrated on the celebrity stardom and troubles that various 20th century iconic figures encountered in their careers as well as in their personal lives.

Over the years, Russell Young’s art has expanded its reach without losing its primary roots. It has steadily moved towards the reinvention of a symbolic and cultural universe while continuing to link itself to the artist's life-long inspirations informed by a world dominated by Hollywood adventures, icons, and heroes he has absorbed through television.
