Statement/Bio/CV

Andréa DeFelice works in a range of media including including a series of mechanical light paintings and objects, time-based media, and works on paper. Her most recent works are responses to interests in how information is hidden and revealed, edited and leaked, perceived, redacted, and reformed. They depict various impressions on place, instances, and are set to re-inform the way we think about data as we receive it today through both traditional and alternative methods. The artist incorporates ultraviolet light, mechanical motion, acoustics from objects, repetitive visuals to reference the interplay between physical vs. digitally-generated realities.

DeFelice's work references different concepts and concerns over what makes information considered valid, and even how new technologies affect they way we communicate. Whether sought out, concealed, or flowing at you from incontinent feeds, the ways we receive information shape our perceptions of what it defines.

Bio:
