Statement

Kevin Parks Hauser is a multi-disciplinary artist that lives and works in San Francisco. He has exhibited Internationally and has a BFA in Drawing from Texas State University and a MFA in New Genres from the San Francisco Art Institute.

I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and raised in rural Texas in an environment that discouraged creativity and individuality. As a teenager, I found my self becoming involved with punk subculture. Skateboarders, Indie Rock, and Riot Grrl were all part of my formative years. These aspects, usually thought to be a fad or "phase" by most have become the core of my being. I love the idea that punk is an idea not an outfit. Being queer in a small town was a hardship a lot of teenagers bare, but knowing why you believe what you believe and knowing who you are only makes you a stronger person. All of these aspects of my background still influence my art on or beneath the surface.
