RAE (aka RAE BK) is a street artist, painter and sculptor who was born and raised Brooklyn, New York. His murals, paste-ups and 3-dimensional found-object sculptures can be found on city streets worldwide. His sculptures often appear bolted to poles and and affixed to other city structures at times giving the appearance they were sanctioned.
Indoors, RAE is known for finding pop-up locations he can transform into a world where art, installation and practicality overlap. In 2013, he re-opened what was once a corner bodega in the East Village of New York City and turned it into an exhibition space/grocery store called “Word Of Mouth”. RAE’s Pop Art inspired work was incorporated amongst surveillance cameras, lottery tickets, loaves of bread, lose cigarettes and just about anything you’d expect to find in a bodega. Just last year, RAE traveled to Ethiopia and staged an exhibition inside the living room of a local family’s small home. The opening included a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony and was attended by locals, goats and other animals. This Spring 2015, he has launched a pop-up exhibition "Trunk Work" in China Town, NYC.
