Statement

Artist Statement : Raw Movements

All my art is created with raw movements that are always changing. I chisel unclear concepts until they become more than mark making.

In my art I always find myself searching for the underbelly of the composition. Never staying with one idea or mood for very long, I simply create better when thinking on my toes. My art is not about a singular idea, for every piece has its own way, even if there are prior concepts.

In my work line can take the place of both a figure and space. I will often use line to express graphic concepts like movement within an atmosphere. In my paintings I see a relationship to landscape and I play with that concept, but I think of my space more as a sculpture not as a window. Real space is always changing and I reach for my paintings to reflect that.

I create sculpture to gratify my need to work around space. It is another tool to express a different side of the same conversation within art. I believe art is a part of reality. Art must exist within the most vile places of this world and the clearest.
