P D Packard
Printmaker + Watercolorist + Book Artist
My work is focused on the discovery of cause and effect through the printmaking techniques of drypoint, embossing, and relief, mixed with painting, aniline and natural dyes.
The process begins with a single word that my intuition presents before me. I demand of me to truly understand the practical and metaphysical meaning of the word. This leads to another word, then another word, and then the formation of prose. To the best of my ability I become silent, listening and trusting my inner response. I am layered in methodical thought and committed to expressing the principles of unconditional Love - not conditional romance.
Awarded a scholarship to St Martins School of Art (aka Central St Martins), in London, PD Packard obtained a combined BFA degree in Textile Design and Fashion. When she returned to the states she developed original textiles and surface designs primarily for the cosmetic industry. Many of the principles in printmaking are similar to fabric and surface design making an easy and natural transition for her into fine art printing in 2009.
Packard’s work has been exhibited throughout the States and Internationally.
