In my sense, the painting is an art dedicated to the silence. As we can never describe exactly the feeling of someone contemplating an artwork, it’s soo difficult to talk about my way of painting. Neverthless, I’ll try to outline some major points of my understanding of art.
I do not imitate the nature when I work. What I have been tried from the begining was to develop an original point of view and to reach a completely personal style. Certainly, to decide in the dimensions of an artwork and to choose its color palette require more calculation than emotion, but it is evident as well as the artwork builds itself especially by its own laws.
The multiple voyages between the depthes of my soul, my cultural past, my artistic conception and the secrets of pigments are determinent in my everyday life of artist.
Often, to begin a painting I draw a line or I put a color on the white canvas without preliminary intention. In this action the insistence of the brush is as determinant as the will of my hand. One day I can begin with an enormous spot of bleumarine which can cover half of my canvas. Unother days I can decide instinctively to write an elliptical movement by a quick action of my body. I can not know in advance. It is the beginning.
While I cover my canvas by colors, every plot of this color which is coming to be placed on canvas control my brush and my decision for the next stage. I run in a sense behind a purpose which changes ceaselessly look and place. It's as if I lost the hope, as I die and reborn all the time crossed.
The light which constitutes the fondament of the life and the origin of the material, is reflected from the surface of the artwork having left a part of its energy in colored layers and arrives to us. The colors which amaze us as well as the organic or geometrical forms that we appreciate are the images which this light leave in our brain. This energy which reaches our brain via our eyes is not so different from musical vibrations. One can then speak about a music that we listen to with our eyes. A texture observed on a stone, a harmony met in the layout of the sheets of a plant or the mouvemant of a cloud in the sky generating happiness, sadness or love can be considered as abstract synphonies.
To paint for me, it is to prepare the quality of this light heard as a synphonic music which propagates from canvas towards our brain. To create, for me, it is the most difficult task in the world which consists in finding such an armonie without break the depthes of our soul. It is to put in the world an object which has never existed previously, which does not exist and which will not exist nowhere else . It also to find the way of expressing me without speaking and without using words.
I invite you to listen to this lyric music which emanates from my paintings.
