Hillel Glueck (b. 1979), was born and grew up in Brooklyn NY, USA, currently residing and working in Ma’ale Adummim, Israel; self-taught artist in various of fields including the field of visual art:
Enigmatic Artworks by Hillel Glueck (Artist Statement): The task of mine as an artist is to smooth things out and bring harmony and peace. What inspires me the most is (classical) music only! — I am mostly devoted to music composition; employing in my visual art musical structures — in short, expressing music by means of visual art.
My artworks like the music works of mine are in an active mode, kind of calling out to the viewer — in a manner of "Projecting wisdom via wall hanging designs" — as for the concept of wisdom is all about the concept of unity; proving through the power of wisdom how profoundly extreme diversities interact one with the other — so is my focus throughout my artworks in uniting beauty with non-beauty, old with new — bringing worlds together, bringing people of various different backgrounds together. Hence, these Enigmatic Artworks serve as a source to aspire the viewer as they do to inspire.
Thus another important aspect to my designs, is about people, which is about me being a person who is deeply interested in other people; a humanist and a humanitarian — thus, my designs are always based on the human figure — in general, my approach is architectural if often abstract; though, however abstract my designs may be, they are always based on the human figure — in short, "Humanizing the Universe!" — my wish for a more perfect world, a world of harmony and peace. Hence, it now became clear to understand my asymmetric approach towards my designs — like the form of a human figure indeed.
However abstract, dramatic and asymmetric my designs may be, they are always well balanced and conform to the basic geometric shapes — shapes which is really the main thing I specialize in, and which is why I am very drawn to architecture and to designing typefaces — I have designed over a dozen typefaces, one of them which came to prominence in 2013.
My artworks integrate a number of modern artistic styles, in compositions based on logical principles. Actually, I am a combination of the traditional and nontraditional, thus combining in my artworks the best of old and new.
Enigmatic Interior by Hillel Glueck — each project of this new COMPREHENSIVE 3D series (that constitutes from the central drawing side by side with a distinctive background) is a preliminary to a meditation; each project creates a particular atmosphere, establishes an emotional setting then fades out, after contemplating the central drawing itself by isolating it from all its surroundings; some are noble and some are sentimental.
What this Enigmatic Interior line of artworks have in common — is indeed the mature and wiser me as a visual artist, which came along after obtaining lots of experience about life in general. Thus the title ‘Enigmatic Interior’ indicates my intension of illustrating a series of Enigmatic Artworks in imitation of the young and less-experienced me, the sophistication of my earlier artworks give way in the Enigmatic Interior series to a marketing clearer kind of illustrations, which crystallizes the harmony and sharpens the profile of the quoted central drawing (presented within each image) — cutting down on the degree of difficulty in my recent works, in favor of a clearer kind of drawing where “less is more!”
At the macro level, this Enigmatic Interior series can be rightly perceived as a “Passacaglia”, as in music, we may consider the composer of the Passacaglia, as an architect who has been asked to design many different rooms all based on the same slab foundation, each of those rooms being a variation on that foundation theme.
