Quick Facts
Statement

I am fascinated about what is unseen and obscure in the physical world around us.  I seek to explore that fascination by manipulating materials to reveal the hidden secrets that lie within their structures.

I am inspired by the rich textures of our earth’s surface.  I find tremendous beauty in those elements and how they are altered and defined by the passage of time.  Consequently, I am drawn to the use of natural materials in my work, including sand, paper, wood and metal.  I find that exploring and interacting with different forms of those materials helps build a connection with nature and the earth – and, ultimately, facilitates a stronger connection with, and understanding of, ourselves.

For those reasons, my process is driven by a strong desire to reveal and uncover what is hidden.  That curiosity allows me to manipulate materials with unexpected results, providing a release from the familiar and freedom from uncertainty.  I manipulate so that I can expose; I expose to discover and reveal the unknown.
