Zun Ei Phyu
I started my artist life when I was 10 years old as my parent let me learn basic art theory and practice under a professional artist named Sandar Khine. She becomes a good mentor throughout my artist life until now. After graduating from Medical University as Doctor, my life become changing a lot even in my artwork creation. I self-taught for more experimental artworks and I became so much attached to paper cutting and installation with shadow and lighting. I also did public installation which can interact with many people. For me, Art is the platform to interact, exchange experiences and make conversation with people. Later I am experimenting to play with layers because I like to tell the stories through my artworks. The story may contain some hidden parts and layers are best to present different aspect of story. I used both clear transparent sheets and transparent paper and play with ink colors. Then I combine with lighting to highlight some part of story and to show some part of shadows.
I like to create artwork that touches my heart as a subject. I like to present about our children and about elderly people from my country. How they have to live, how they have to survive and what they are thinking, all become my subjects to create. Starting from last year, I am starting to do some research about combining my medical knowledge to my creation of art. The subject I am working on now is Cancer and art. How Cancer cells forms in our body, how they effect and how they growth and then correlate with our live experiences. Some of our daily life styles, our emotion and our actions are like Cancer. I plan to continue that research broadly .
