Jos McKain is a self-taught performer, artist, filmmaker and researcher from based in Los Angeles. He is a multi-modal dance-maker, merging time-based platforms to create installations activated through dance performance. His practice investigates the transference of information as archetypes through the body as an empirical holistic tool.
He was an apprentice under master teacher Sean Greene from 2007-2012 and then Ryan Heffington from 2009-2014.
He has worked with Mike Kelley, Anne Imhof, Marina Abramovic, Melinda Ring, Ligia Manuela Lewis, Julien Previeux and Emily Mast to name a few.
In 2014 he was a chief collaborator on the first performance work to win the Prix Marcel Duchamp.
He has been featured in works at the Palais du Tokio, Centre Pompidou, La Ferme du Boisson, LACMA, MOCA Los Angeles, MOMA PS1, Kunstnunnes Haus, La Sira and the Hammer Museum Biennial.
