Statement

Sarah-J. Calvetti was born on the Texas-Mexico border in 1989. She completed her BFA in photography at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. For over a year she crossed the border to make photographs for her first book, which dealt with cultural identification in domestic settings on either side of the Rio Grande River. She is currently a candidate for graduate residency at Portland State University where she is experimenting with video and installation related to American structures of law enforcement, definitions of evidence, and systems of incarceration .
