The artist

Sahel knows about form, function, color and settings and she pieces it together so beautifully and so naturally that you can’t believe you couldn’t see the complete picture to begin with.

Having always been a creative soul with a vivid imagination Sahel started her artistic journey when she was a young girl as a collector of the treasures of the street. Her room was known as the garbage dump, but in her eyes all these things had value and incredible possibilities. They could be transformed into the most amazing pieces.

And this is exactly what she does. She transforms everyday things into marvelous creations, she sees their potential and she gives them life.

The inspiration
Sahel is inspired by her surroundings – everything with a nerve, all the little things that makes her feel alive – be it people, places, nature or music. She is more than anything a visual artist and her art enables her to digest and express all the experiences and feelings amassed inside of her. The contemporary abstract pieces are solely an expression of thoughts and subconsciousness.

The art
Sahel mostly works with materials that she finds in the street. Her canvases are often made up of wood slabs and chip boards and the fantastic constellations comprise of everything from dress maker’s- and skeleton dummies to gilded beetles. The colorful and enchanted mixed media with brushstrokes, drippings and pourings of oil, acrylic and enamel paint swallows up the beholder and express at the same time human frailty and incredible strength.
