        The loss we experience when a rock star dies is unlike any other.  A stranger who touches your life through their music becomes a friend you turn to in times of both joy and sadness, yet the relationship is entirely one-sided, an unrequited love between musician and fan based on a sense of shared experience.  Logic dictates that as the music lives on even when the musician does not, the relationship should essentially be unaffected, but the pain we feel when our idols die...         ‘In the Pines' takes its title from a folk song which has retained its mystery and mythology despite being interpreted thousands of times by an astounding array of musicians over at least the last 150 years.
