Alibi Fine Art
Alibi Fine Art is a photography gallery located in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago, established July, 2010. Owned and operated by Lisa Janes, the gallery has focused on exhibiting works often overlooked or forgotten: from early career artists such as Joe Johnson and Asia Kepka, to nationally recognized talents Charles Swedlund and Joseph Sterling, as well as internationally acclaimed photographer Mark Steinmetz. The Summer Group Show in 2011 included five women photographers dealing with varying aspects of feminism, was included in New City’s top five photograph exhibits of that year. A number of Alibi Fine Art’s shows have been reviewed locally in New City, with reviews and write-ups also appearing in other print and online publications including the Chicago Reader, Chicago Tribune, Photograph magazine and Hyperallergic.com.
In March of 2014 the gallery moved from the original location on Montrose Avenue to its new home a few blocks away on Ravenswood Avenue, adjacent to Manifold gallery with Janes taking leadership of the gallery over from Adam Holtzman.
