David Asher Brook
David Asher Brook is a Sydney born artist who works primarily as a painter and video artist. David's practice focuses on figurative and expressive elements. In his work he seeks to resolve the tension around composition, colour and narrative. David has been a three times finalist in the NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize and in 2010 he won the Waverley Art Oil Painting Prize. David has held a number of solo and group shows and performs frequently as a live artist in collaboration with musicians and other performers.
“I have been experimenting with turning the painting black and then turning it white again and combining this with patterns that insure the images composition. Also when I paint a nose I have turned it right and left and right again etc until it somehow feels right.”
