Statement

Interested in the oral traditions of story-telling; I draw and paint my own life as it relates to a greater story of the human condition; simultaneous tragedy and joy in perseverance.  My body displays a history of experience; a record including both violence, and a subtle sustaining ability to create beauty.  As I carry pieces of my life into my work, each drawing becomes a story.  Beginning with direct observation, I then listen for the voice of the drawing.  As the subject and mark-making dictate the process, the work becomes both figurative and abstracted.
