Landscape has a language of its own. To walk its pathways and pavements is to navigate terrain that has been etched with signs and symbols; with memory and meaning. It is like a fully interactive, three dimensional manuscript, that tells stories about places, about the people who have been there, and even about ourselves. The need to learn these stories, to understand them, and to tell them; is driven by a desire to walk the landscape and be a part of it.
The work evolves from drawings and studies made 'en plein air'; digital photography; and an engagement with landscapes that are remembered or imagined. I balance my time between working in the studio and outdoors; often visiting the same location again and again. This has enabled me to see, experience and express the places that I visit in a surprising number of ways.
I have over 15 years experience working in the Visual Arts, as a Fine Artist, an Illustrator, and as a Youth and Community Arts Worker. I currently work full-time as a Painter and Photographer from my Lancashire based studio. Please take some time to visit my website- http://debbieyare.com to view a broader selection of my work.
