Gesture describes the energy in life; it represents the vibration in everything.

My artwork depicts a sense of place and the energy that connects us to that place and the world around. I use a combination of gesture and contour line creating a unique vision of the natural world and its transformation into abstraction. My use of line takes the viewer on a journey through environments both physical and spiritual. The images both describe and celebrate the intrinsically aesthetic structure of the natural world and the ever-present duality in all things. I start my paintings by finding the essence of a particular place, a moment in time, or emotional state. Working loosely with gesture drawing I let the painting evolve into its own place. I start finding the contours of natural shapes and building a path in and through the painting, creating a new abstract world to explore.

Cyto-Illusions Series- includes using cellular microscopy images and photography as the source material and building blocks for multilayered abstractions celebrating art, science, philosophy and our human connection through the use of biomorphic abstraction. On a biological level, we are all the same. We are part of all that is living. Every life structure mimics another. We each have a unique energy that connects us to each other, yet we are all structurally made of the same biomorphic web. They are images made from life, about life, showing a microscopic world that echo's images of the cosmos. The colors are vibrant hues to awaken the soul. The shapes are organic, made from nature and share a connection with all living things.
