University of Victoria, 2013, BFA, Visual Arts, Minor in Business
Contemporary art, fashion, and my own multicultural upbringing are important topics to me. I currently work at a local art gallery in Vancouver, collaboratively curating shows and also team writing their in-house publication, Magtear. I also write for a new emerging online zine called TheRegion.ca, in which I mainly write about emerging Canadian talent in fashion and contemporary art. Furthermore, I recently graduated from the University of Victoria with a BFA in Visual Arts, and a minor in Business. Througout my art, I deal with a constructive critique and fascination with multiculturalism.
Coming from a diverse multicultural upbringing, I have had the chance to experience many cultures simultaneously. I desire to connect to a new transnational identity free from classification with stereotypes. This may be a simple melding of two cultures; other times it may be a more complex issue of showing how diversity is a strange yet beautiful state.
In addition to challenging my idea of identity, I also enjoy challenging myself with new mediums. Exploration is important to me, as it allows me to view topics in different lights.
