Richard Whincop: Curriculum Vitae

Born in 1964 at Fordingbridge, Hampshire, after graduating from York University I became a free-lance artist, moving to Glasgow in 1988. There my work developed within the city’s flourishing figurative art scene, and from 1995-2004 I executed a series of major commissions for themed restaurants, bars and night clubs throughout Scotland. From 2005 I began to exhibit my figurative work in galleries and art fairs throughout the UK and Ireland. In July 2010 I moved to Lavant, near Chichester in West Sussex.

My work conducts a dialogue between past and present, often combining elements from works of art of the past with contemporary figures, rangin in style from more traditional realism to a beguiling surrealism, a dreamlike synthesis of art and reality.
