Salon Gotham is a group of art lovers in their 20’s and 30’s who, through a diverse group of programs support and nurture the emerging artists’ community of NYC. While we eventually intend to grow into a larger 501c non-profit organization, for now we like to think of ourselves as a bunch of local art nerds who want to serve the community we love. This is a city filled with genuine art lovers and there are more than a healthy variety of groups, committees, societies and associations to reflect that. Salon Gotham differentiates itself by supporting the emerging artists community just for the sake of art. Our members are not necessarily from art backgrounds, they don’t necessarily have the funds to be regular at auctions, they may not be able to shoot off names of contemporary artists who display postmodern influences at the drop of a hat - but they simply love art and they feel a responsibility to keep art central to New York, accessible to the masses and most importantly a responsibility to support our creative minds who keep it in our lives. That’s all we are. Through a series of programs we do our part to make the incredibly grueling life of being an artist in New York a little easier and a little less isolated. We all need a support network, especially our artists.
While supporting our artists is our core purpose, we are also a social collective. We live by somewhat of an Art. Party. Repeat mantra. Our fundraising efforts are centered around our Monthly Salon Bacchanalia parties and year round, as a group we participate in and attend the wonderfully eclectic art events in New York.
