About

Anya Charikov-Mickleburgh is London-based artist and curator. She moved to the UK from Russia. Her cross-cultural references and experiences inform her research-based practice and take the form of painting, drawing, object-making and installation. Her work is concerned with symbolic meaning and rituals, conspiracies and cabals, inner and outer, individual and collective, domestic and social, unique and mass-produced, historic and contemporary, often meet at the corner of hiding and revealing.

She has organised several events and exhibitions including the group show "The Runaway Fingers" at Pushkin House in London. She is an active participant of festivals and art-biennials, including Manifesta 11 in Zurich and Frieze in London. She has taken part in many international annual exhibitions and competitions in London, New York, Vancouver, Dubai and Moscow. She has been finalist and winner in the following prizes: Ferens Art Gallery in Hull, Red Collection, HIX ART Award, the Khojaly Peace Art Prize in Houses of Parliament in Westminster.
