Lauren J. Barnhart
The act of letting the paint play is a constant movement and variation. Most importantly, it's a search for visual rhythm. I am mainly inspired by nature - how it grows, how it changes, how it functions. What feelings are evoked by different environments?
When I begin by mixing the colors, each one informs the next. On canvas, the colors play off of each other. I am guided by their reactions. It is a meditation of rhythm and focus, based on the moment rather than a map.
I am also an author currently writing a book on the history of religion and conquest. My memoir No End Of The Bed is available at most major online retailers. You can also read my blog at www.laurenjbarnhart.com where I expound on art, religion, books, feminism, and family.
