Statement

Bio, Alexandra Ponca Stock

Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1986, to a family of talented artists, Alexandra Ponca Stock has been immersed in the Arts and Education her whole life.  Stock attended the Kansas City Art Institute where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

Throughout her work she has explored ideas of cultural identity and the history of art.  Being of Osage Indian, German, and Swiss decent, Stock’s own cultural identity as a modern American woman is of much importance.  Stock’s aesthetic achieves a unique, multifaceted view of color as influenced by culture, gender and our time in history.   Imagery involved often plays with shifting space, portraiture and common objects dissolving into abstraction.  As a student and educator, Stock continually searches for the next step in process, knowledge and learning.
