Gamaliel R. Herrera (San Juan, Puerto Rico; 1970) is a self-taught artist, diagnostic radiologist, and contemporary art collector.  Working mostly with mixed media, collage, painting and installation, in 2013 he won the first prize of the 6th All-Media Juried Biennial at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, Florida (jurors: Hunter Braithwaite and Gean Moreno).  He was a juried resident artist at the Art Center/South Florida in 2012.  He collaborates with the Hamburg-based artist collective Friends and Lovers in Underground (www.friendsandloversinunderground.d...), with whom he has been included in several group shows in Europe.

Dr. Herrera received an education in the humanities, natural sciences, and medicine between San Juan and Madrid (B.S. 1992, M.D. 1996), and completed his training in diagnostic radiology between New York and Boston from 1997 to 2001. He started independently researching and collecting contemporary art in 2001. From 2004 to 2008 he founded and directed Space Other, a contemporary art project space in Boston.  In 2011 he relocated from Boston to south Florida to pursue the development of his own artistic production.
