Qing Liu was born in Fujian Province, China. Liu received his B.A. from the School of Art and Architecture at UCLA and MFA in Visual Arts from Columbia University in 2006. Navigating within a system of the political, social and cultural structures through his unique relationship with the external world, Liu works diversely with photography, text, artist book, drawing, video and sculptural installation to raise questions on the contemporary condition of materiality and the meaning of its production, and to investigate the idea of existence in the threshold of politics and desire. Liu has been included in group exhibitions in such venues as Whitebox Gallery, Momenta Art, powerHouse Arena, Socrates Sculpture Park, Rental Gallery, Queens Museum of Art and others.
