Statement

Sisun Song is a founder, a curator of Artichoke NY. She has extensive experienc in both non-profit and profit organizations over twelve years. Following her BFA in Fine Arts from Kyunggi University in Korea, she relocated to the USA to continue studying and received a BFA degree in fine art  from School of Visual Arts and an MA in Studio Art from New York University.

From 2003 to 2009, she founded and worked for  Mushroom Arts a not-for-profit art organization in the Chelsea district of New York City. She curated numerous national and international exhibitions focusing on emerging artists which have garnered curatorial and critical attention in the international art world. After that, she worked as a curator at Yegam Art Space located in Queens, New York until 2013. She organized a variety of art and cultural events as well as exhibitions for the local community. Studying and gaining experience with art industry professionals, she has honed her curatorial eye and developed a deep passion for the art world.

Sisun's work uncovers the secret and immature nature of human being and its society. The little girls and their behaviors in her works reflect the intertwined relationships of the world of adult and portrait of artist herself.
