Lacey Richter is an Austin-based artist working in a variety of media, including video/performance, materials from construction site dumpsters, paint, charcoal, needle and thread, electric tape and fabric. A native of Texas, having grown up in the hill country of Kerrville, she appreciates nature, music, and wonder. Her work is influenced by internal energies and intuition - raw, feminine, sensually tactile, and organic in nature. Richter’s dance-based performance videos, robust mixed-media paintings, and fabric/mesh-based installations have been featured in solo and collaborative shows in Austin, including the Julia C. Butridge Gallery, the Museum of Human Achievement, City Hall, the Bergstrom Airport, East Austin Studio Tour, New York, Chicago, as well as internationally in Mexico, Berlin, and most recently in France where she explored Horse-Dancing, debuting video work at a historic equine estate in the southern village of Pompadour at Le Jumenterie de Riviere. Additionally, Richter completed her first residency with the Serie Project, producing a limited edition silkscreen print based on ideas upon heart-rebirth, as well as in, Berlin, Germany, where she facilitated a mixed-media art workshop to artists from all over the world as part of the Kolaborativ13 Artist Conference.
