Artist Bio:  Lori Love aka (IRoL)

Lori Love is a mixed media collage artist living and creating in the NoDa arts community in Charlotte, NC.  After having lived and studied in the United Kingdom, Lori returned to the states to complete her BA and MA at the University of South Carolina. It was at this juncture she began to think of art as not just an obsession with beauty but a journey of possibilities.

This journey of possibilities is founded in her sense that art should not be grounded only in the use of traditional materials but in the use of recycled and upcycled materials, as well.  The challenge is to totally change the way one views materials that are typically utilitarian in nature and to utilize them in a way that redefines their identity and meaning. Hence, newsprint becomes the pattern for contouring; vinyl records and discarded plastics become texture; fiberglass screen and resin become the means for creating depth.

Lori’s work has been exhibited throughout the Southeast, New York and Chicago and her work has been featured in the Creative Quarterly Journal, Charlotte Magazine and The Book of List.  Currently, her work is on exhibit at the Elizabeth Guinan Gallery at the Art Institute of Charlotte as well as being held in many private collections in the US and abroad.
