Statement

Though the subjects in my work may vary, what pervades are dualities such as: flatness and space; the carnal and the superficial; the ordinary and the sublime; to reveal and to conceal at the same time. These dualities create a kind of visual play-ground in my paintings.

The painting’s surfaces and images are constructed using colors and materials that are chosen with the intention of being sensual and unabashedly fabulous! Fabulous -- as well as camp -- are what I call that “queer space”.  The space that lies somewhere between the center and the margin -- a place that can be both ironic and sincere. My paintings are both windows and flat surfaces created to seduce the viewer to peer into or at the intimate and carnal, as juxtaposed with the mythic or mere decorative.
