Statement

"My artistic practice is concerned with the structure and experience of space.  Theoretical math often provides a solid intellectual framework from which to start, but the process is not bound to this.  Scale, shape (intrinsic and extrinsic) and form (open and closed), linearity and non-linearity, structure and architecture (local and global), objecthood and memory (personal and collective) are recurring themes."

--London Tsai, Miami, June 22, 2012

London Tsai (aka Lun-Yi Tsai) was born in Massachusetts, spent his early childhood in Paris, and grew up in SoHo, New York in the 1980s.  After college and graduate school, Tsai spent six years in China.  Since then he has lived in Boston, New York, and Seattle.  An artist residency in Berlin in 2008 was pivotal in awakening his latent sculptural tendencies.  He currently resides in Miami.
